Instead of going with an extra switch, to access the vigors web interface, if your router supports it, simply configure an ip on it's WAN port and have it route packets between the LAN and WAN sides. I'm trying to get this working with my Draytek Vac and my Vigor but no joy as yet. The is still at factory I then add a route policy rule sending any internal requests to The instructions I have found elsewhere seem to say that I need to specify a gateway however of Sign in.

Rising Star. Thanks: Looks like a good modem! Do you have this plugged into a Draytek router, as the blurb suggests that line stats are only viewable if you have? Message 2 of No, I have it plugged into a Mbps switch, what then has one cable going to the WAN port on my router and another one going to a spare LAN port on my router.
My Vigor is running firmware version 3. Message 3 of Ah ok thanks for the info. Ive just taken the plunge and ordered one. From what i have read, its just a case of unplugging the Openreach modem and plugging the new one in without any need for configuration?
Message 4 of Sort of Additionally, because you will be effectively setting a static IP for the Vigoryou will want to ensure that your router does not try to issue the s' IP to a another device; thus either set your DHCP range on your router to start after the 's IP or add the 's IP as a manualy reserved IP in your router.
Also, don't forget to change the 's password from the default "admin" and to check that it has the latest firmware installed, what is 3.Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I thought it was better than starting a new one.
My home network is set up the way I want and has been very stable and reliable. I really do not want to connect the HomeHub that is being sent to me, and wanted to confirm that the DrayTek should just automatically connect when the VDSL connection is activated? I did call BT customer support but they seemed to know less about this than me which is a pretty low bar. I happen to be away from home for a couple of weeks starting on the activation date.
Bad timing but I didn't want to delay the activation of Infinity having waited many years for it to become available, and I am hoping the house will not lose Internet access in my absence. Go to Solution. Unfortunately all is not well. I have since been getting the run around with the BT on-line help. They claim they found a fault but keep pushing out the date for the engineer repair most recently was yesterday, which came and went. Very frustrated and every time I contact the on-line help it seems they just run through a standard scripted checklist and waste a lot of my time and give me a new "fix by" date Silly question time.
What are the lights on the front of the modem doing? The DoS light should be off, so that's fine. Did you power off the modem after the switch over was meant to happen? If not then it's worth a try, about 30 seconds or so should be enough. Thanks both for the quick replies.
I will do a full reboot with my equpment when I am back home and, failing that working, try connectng the BT supplied hub to test. When I contacted the on-line BT helpline to let them know my equpment did not estblish a connection explaining I wasn't home they told me their tests found a line fault on their end and they logged a fault which still shows in my account as ongloing.
But your suggestions are of course correct and I will try both upon my return. Sadly it looks like my home will remain without internet connectivity pending my return. Just another thought.
If so it would need the VDSL setting entered. The username bthomehub btbroadband. Thanks, Liam, that is very helpful. I will check those settings in the router when I am back! Just wanted to finish this off with a hearty thank you to you all for your help. It seems a combination of something BT did at the cabinet and a router re-boot have solved my issue. In fact, I am enjoying a faster connection than I had expected given my home's distance from the cabinet.

Your employee contracts should also require passwords to be disclosed to management when required. The password is an important part of your overall security. If someone can access your router, they can change the configuration, remove protections, set up VPNs to allow them remote access to your LAN, lock you out or control your access or otherwise cause mischief or damage, whether deliberate or unintentional.
There are circumstances where a password may be lost, forgotten or the person who set it is either no longer available or for some reason is refusing to release it to you. Sometimes, the person may simply be unavailable temporarily when you need access. Firstly, it is entirely unethical for a contractor or employee to withhold information in this way and there are many laws around the world which protect against it - including people being sent to gaol under various computer crime laws.
You can not. There are no mechanisms designed within DrayTek routers to allow you into the admin interfaces without the admin password - i. Whilst, for the reasons explained earlier, there are legitimate reasons for needing to bypass a password, providing such a facility would put the security of all owners at risk for the sake of users who may, perhaps through no fault of their own lose their password.
If you don't have the password, the router will carry on working as it is, but if you need to change any settings, the only way you can get back into the router is by resetting it. That clears all settings and restores the router's default password. You should therefore do this only once you are confident that you have all information and enough time to configure your router from scratch. Before resetting the router, check that the router is powered up and operating normally.

The Vigor does not store any Internet usernames or passwords itself - those go into your router, or whatever you are connecting to the Vigor The settings on the Vigor are correct for most UK lines out of the box, so in most cases it should only be necessary to configure the router that it is connected to. The above are the correct settings for the majority of UK ISPs so you do not need to change any settings on your Vigor or access its web interface. Go straight to your router setup. Tick the Load Balance option if it's present so that the WAN interface can be used for normal internet access:.
Ensure you select "Enable" using the radio button from the top left corner to enable the PPPoE connection type. Leave the Service Name field blank if that option is present because that should not be set when using the Vigor modem:. Click OK on that page to save the settings and the router will then prompt to restart, allow it to restart to properly apply the changes.
On that page, select the WAN interface that will be connected to the Vigor modem, click on that WAN interface to select it so that it is highlighted in blue then click the Edit button to go into the settings for the WAN interface:. Leave the Service Name field blank because that should not be set when using the Vigor modem. Click Apply to apply the settings for the connection. Once that has completed, go to [Online Status] to view the status of the connection, which can take a minute to apply fully.
Click OK on that page to apply that change, at which point the modem will need to restart, so click OK on the restart page to restart it. Setting up Internet access via a Vigor modem is a straightforward process so hopefully everything should go smoothly.
However, below are a few tips that cover some possibilities:. If you have this field in the configuration of the router or computer that you're using then make sure that it is left empty.

Troubleshooting Setting up Internet access via a Vigor modem is a straightforward process so hopefully everything should go smoothly. However, below are a few tips that cover some possibilities: An important item to note is that for the PPPoE connection a "Service Name" should not be entered.
If the Vigor modem is not providing a PPPoE internet connection, factory reset the modem using a pin or straightened out paperclip by pressing the Factory Reset button on the back of the unit until the ACT light flashes rapidly, which should take 5 seconds. The modem will restart with the factory default settings to provide a PPPoE internet connection. Useful Links.
