This version is recommended to experienced users. These release notes are a mix of the alpha1 and alpha2 release. Please install the alpha2 version since it includes several bug fixes. This is the first alpha release of PrusaSlicer 2. To let you enjoy the alpha without worries, the alpha builds save their profiles into PrusaSlicer-alpha directory, so you may use the alpha side by side with the current release without ruining your production configuration.

We have extended the Installation Wizard and configuration layer to support 3rd party 3D printer vendors. A 3D printer vendor may provide a versioned Config Bundle to us. For starter, we have created profiles for the Creality Ender-3 printer.

Please consider this profile experimental, we expect the community members to build upon our initial draft.

PrusaSlicer 2.2 Alpha with included Ender 3 Profile

We will publish a guide for contributors on how these Config Bundles are structured and how to contribute them. Starting with this release, a shorter "logical name" aka "alias" is shown at the Plater, while the full profile name is shown at its respective parameter page. The "logical name" aka "alias" is defined in two ways: First, the " " sign in the preset name is interpreted as a separator of a logical name from the full name.

For example, the full Print profile name "0. The second way to assign a logical name to a profile without the use of the " " sign in the profile name is through an "alias" configuration value of a profile. Starting with this release, the Filament and SLA Materials provided by various 3D printer vendors may be installed in a similar way to how the printers are already installable. The filament and SLA materials are referenced by their logical names in the installation wizard, so one filament or SLA material profile is being installed for multiple installed printers at once.

The Color Print tool is highly praised as extremely easy to use and intuitive, but until now it only supported filament switches and it was limited to single extruder printers.

Based on the feedback from our customers and the community, we generalized the Color Print tool to support print stops to insert magnets, weights, bearings, nuts or a custom G-code. Printing signs unattended. Here a filament switch event is inserted at a selected layer height, which will trigger the MMU2 unit to switch filaments automatically while wiping the extruder into a wipe tower. In this scenario there will be just a handful of filament switches performed, therefore many layers of the wipe tower will be printed with sparse layers.

Check the other new feature "Wipe tower without sparse layers" on how to reduce material waste and print time when printing with MMU2 Color Print. Extending the number of colors of MMU2 prints above 5. One may assign a single extruder to two parts separated in Z axis for example shoes and eyes of a standing figureand then plan filament exchange M G-code in between. The Color Print also newly supports generating color bands at regular intervals:.

Charles T. I was looking for a new hobby, something creative and relatively speaking, cheap. Thus far I've enjoyed it. Setup was both simple and complex in ways that I enjoy.

So far, refining what I have and am able to do with the printer has been my focus, and quite enjoyable. Bit of a bear getting it set up, and although there are some more adjustments to be made, that's the nature of beast. I got good results after the 1st 6 hours of use.

Amazing that it's at the price it is, and there isn't anything that seems unsafe. It works exceptionally well and I use it almost daily with no drawbacks.April 14, The extruder calibration is one of the most important process to do for any 3D printer.

By doing the extruder calibration, your printer will accurately extrude the exact amount of filament. This translates to much better finish on the printer parts and more accurate dimensions.

Because this process April 11, Creality just announced the Ender 3 V2. An upgraded version of the extremely popular Ender 3 which at the moment is a best buy for a beginner. A 3D slicer is a 3D printer software program that you can import models into — for example in. STL or. OBJ file format. These 3D printer models form the basis of your print; they contain the edges, heights and basically every dimension of your print. Note: this article focuses on 3D slicers for FDM printing. For resin 3D printing, check out our guide to the best resin 3D slicers.

We hope this provides all the info anyone will need to find the best 3D slicer for their needs. So without further ado, here are 8 of the best 3D slicer programs — of which 5 are free! Ultimaker Cura, the 3D printer software developed by the Dutch 3D printer manufacturer, is the most popular 3D printing software out there. It also has a set of recommended settings for beginners, so those without much experience will still find it usable.

The first stage, Prepare, allows you to choose your printing parameters and slice the 3D printer model ; then the Preview stage lets you simulate the print to identify any areas which may fail.

This is amazing as you can identify faults without having to waste time, materials and energy making those mistakes in real life. Lastly is the Monitor stage, where you can monitor print progress — including remotely. For those new to 3D printing, this handy tutorial covers the basics of printing parameters and more:.

Undoubtedly up there for most expansive and technical 3D slicer tool, Simplify3D is said to be compatible with more 3D printers than any other 3D printer software. The slicing tool is used in education, as well as by both novice and experienced makers.

The price tag comes with a number of key benefits however. For example, Simplify3D excels in an area where most 3D slicers struggle — in supports. You can effectively customize your support thickness, material, and builds them so they can be removed extremely easily. Both Cura and Simplify3D are very good 3D slicers, and we highly recommend both.

Slic3r is a 3D slicer first started back in by Alessandro Ranellucci and champions the open source philosophy alongside RepRap 3D printers. Slic3r can handle printing on mult-extruder printers with different support materials, and can even print on multiple 3D printers simultaneously. The software is very detail oriented, and focuses on technical aspects of 3D printing that experienced makers will be more drawn to.

Even if you only have the free version you still have access to all the content and updates, with new types of 3D printerprint styles, mesh topologies and 3D printer filaments being added all the time. Tinkerine is a Canadian 3D printer manufacturer that specialize in 3D printers for educationand their Tinkerine Suite 3D slicer is built for education too. This makes it perfect for uses in classrooms where younger children may not have much experience with technology, with the simple UX making learning Tinkerine Suite a breeze.

Moreover, alongside the printing parameters there are tips that explain what changing each setting will do to the print. This helps students to learn as they tinker with their models.I have been using Cura with my Ender 3 since I got my printer just over a year ago.

I am trying to move to a new slicer, prusa Slicer obviously. But something is very wrong. I either missed a setting or messed something up. Was watching the printer as it started, bed heated up, then hot end started to heating but then it started the EZABL mesh generation. Normally it heats the hot end, then does the mesh generation, pauses for the hot end to hit desired temp, then prints.

Have looked thru the setting and don't see what I missed, re-copied my g-code and it did it again. My start G-Code is copied straight out of cura, have printed with it for along time, even printed earlier today. Regards Joan.

It list the ender 3 under other vendor printers in the setup wizard, yes I know it is beta but figured I would try it. I just think its a bit dangerous to generated gcode that is obviously not going to work.

This issue was apparently brought up on github months ago oct but apparently is being ignored. The reason I was looking to move to prusa slicer is because I just order an MK3 and was looking to move to a unified slicer once I get my printer in a month or so.

Hi, I have just added Creality ender 3 to my Prusa slicer version 2. Which translates to No, to my knowledge ender 3 don't come with bed leveling, I added mine myself. My prusa slicer version is 2.

PrusaSlicer For Ender 3

Below is the gcode generated by prusa, the gcode in red is my custom start gcode which is for my EZABL. I took out my custom start gcode and get the same start code, just without my leveling, still only a M G4 S10; wait for heaters to recover G92 E0 ; reset extruder.

I have figured out what the difference is after many tries. I checked the box so I could change the name, but apparently check that box also removes the gcode it generates for the ender 3. If I don't check the box it adds the custom start gcode below. The only reason I checked the box was to change the name, so it not something generic, doesn't tell you it going to wipe out all the settings.

There are 4 different temperature related G-Codes to remember that are similar but different. I don't see a "set and do wait" for the extruder in your start g-code so you may be trying to print before your extruder has reached your filament temperature.

I'm not sure if your firmware includes that behavior thought I think that is standard Marlin. Some people's start gcodes mine included use this behavior.
